Initial Setup of the senseBox:bike
Follow these steps for a smooth initial setup:
Unpack and Prepare Your senseBox:bike
- You can find detailed step-by-step instructions here.
Charge and Power On the Device
- Before your first ride, fully charge the senseBox:bike using the included USB cable. A full charge provides 4–8 hours of battery life.
- Press the power button to turn on the senseBox:bike.
- The device will indicate it is ready when you see the QR code on the LED display.
Install the senseBox:bike App
- Download the senseBox:bike app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
- Open the app, ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone, and grant the app all the requested permissions.
Link Your openSenseMap Account
- Register a new openSenseMap account or log in to an existing one by navigating to Settings > Login or Register.
- Create a new box if needed and make sure it's selected. If you are part of a campaign, use the correct box type and campaign.

Note: Box and openSenseMap account management is currently only available on the website.
Connect the App to Your Device
- On the Home page of the app, click the "Connect" button and select your senseBox from the list.
- Once paired, you'll see live sensor data.
Start Gathering Data
- Click the "Start" button and begin your ride!

Note: To protect your privacy, you can set up Privacy Zones in the app where no data will be collected or uploaded (e.g., around your home or office). Configure your Privacy Zones on the Settings screen.

Note: By default, post-ride data upload is enabled, which means all sensor data will be uploaded after you complete your ride. You can enable direct upload instead on the Settings screen.
